The Macan is easily Porsche’s best seller, and as Doug DeMuro recently discovered reviewing the latest S variant, rightfully so.

The facelifted Macan was unveiled in the middle of last year and arrived on U.S. shores recently. It is available in a multitude of guises and for buyers in the market for a premium compact SUV that offers reasonable performance without an exorbitant price tag, the Macan S is a good buy.

Powering it is the same 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 you will find in various Panamera and Cayenne models, with 349 HP and 354 lb-ft (480 Nm) of torque. Porsche quotes a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of 5.1 seconds when fitted with the available Sports Chrono Package. Top speed sits at 156 mph (251 km/h), perfect for high-speed cruising down the Autobahn.

Heaps of car manufacturers are slowly doing away with physical buttons in their new vehicles, but that’s not the case with the Macan. In fact, there’s a dizzying number of buttons used to operate the climate control and various seating functions on either side of the gear lever.

Immediately distinguishing the facelifted Macan from its predecessor is a full-width LED light bar at the rear, as well as standard LED headlights with new daytime running lights. Other key features of the revamped Macan S include a 10.9-inch PCM infotainment system with a full-HD touchscreen display, online navigation with real-time traffic info, intelligent voice control, WiFi hotstop and mobile phone connectivity.

Despite newer competitors out there, Doug DeMuro goes as far as calling it the best small luxury SUV on the market – and you can find out by watching what else he has to say about it on his review.
