Eager to make a splash at the global launch of the production-spec Aspark Owl in Dubai, the Japanese company recruited the help of a rather famous robot to aid in the car’s unveiling.

Titan the Robot made its public debut way back in 2004 at the Glastonbury Festival in the UK and in the 15 years since, has made appearances at events all around the world. For the unveiling of the Owl, Titan walked itself out onto the stage and spent some time speaking with audiences. Unfortunately, the robot didn’t actually pull off the covers of the electric hypercar which could have been pretty impressive.

As for the Aspark Owl, we happen to think it is a little more impressive than Titan the Robot. Most notably, the car pumps out a total of 1,984 hp and roughly 1,475 lb-ft (2,000 Nm) of torque, allowing it to hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in a remarkable 1.69 seconds and a top speed of 248 mph (400 km/h). What’s more, the car is also said to be good for up to 280 miles (450 km) of range on a single charge.

Numerous visual changes differentiate the road-ready Aspark Owl from the concept that was showcased back in 2017. For example, there is an active rear wing that deploys at approximately 93 mph (150 km.h) and retracts at 62 mph (100 km/h).

Among the standard equipment that comes with the Aspark Owl are LED taillights, USB connectivity, sat-nav, climate control, four interior displays, keyless-go, ambient lighting, a Battery Monitoring System, Tire Pressure Monitoring System, ESP, ABS, TCS, and Steering Assistance.

“We were the first company to present the concept of a full-electric hypercar back in 2017,” Aspark chief executive Masanori Yoshida said. “We will be the first to deliver a full-electric hypercar to customers in the second quarter of 2020. And I am really proud of this.”
