Our spy photographers have just snapped the facelifted Audi Q2 undergoing testing in northern Sweden for the very first time and, as is common for a mid-life facelift like this, the modifications will be minor.

Most notably, the refreshed Q2 will be outfitted with new head- and taillights as well as tweaked LED daytime running lights. This particular prototype can be seen sporting an additional LED light bar on the front bumper, but that clearly won’t make it to production and is only there to help Audi engineers navigate through the snow when the sun goes down.

One additional change at the front end that will make it to production will be a re-styled grille. The presence of camouflage across the front bumper, side skirts, and rear bumper leads us to believe that they too will be redesigned and help differentiate the facelifted Q2 from the outgoing model.

We don’t yet have any spy shots revealing the interior of the tweaked Q2 but expect to see some small changes including Audi’s latest infotainment system and software.

It is unlikely that Audi will make any significant changes to the Q2’s engine line-up, apart from tweaking the powertrains to ensure they comply with the latest emissions regulations in Europe. Engine options will vary by country, but the range should include a 1.0-liter TFSI, a 1.4-liter TFSI, a 1.6-liter TDI, and a 2.0-liter TDI available in front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive guises. The SQ2 with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivering 296 hp that allows for a 0-62 mph (100 km/h) time of just 4.8 seconds will continue to top the lot.
