Hyundai has updated the Santa Fe in Australia for the 2020MY, giving it a new 3.5-liter V6 engine.

Replacing the outgoing 2.4-liter mill, it’s available in the Active, Elite and Highlander grades, developing 206 kW (280 PS / 276 hp) and 336 Nm (248 lb-ft) of torque, channeled to the front wheels exclusively via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Offered alongside the 147 kW (200 PS / 197 hp) and 440 Nm (325 lb-ft) of torque 2.2-liter turbodiesel, which is paired to an 8-speed auto and AWD, the new V6 petrol returns 10.6 l/100 km (22.2 mpg US) and costs the same as the previous 2.4 AWD. Pricing starts at AU$43,000 (US$29,056), whereas the mid- and top-spec variants will set you back AU$51,000 (US$34,462) and AU$57,500 (US$38,854), respectively.

The 2020 Santa Fe Active brings 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, 3.5-inch TFT LCD instrument cluster, 7-inch infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear knob and a host of driving assist features.

The Elite adds 18-inch wheels, leather trim, 8-inch infotainment, Infinity premium audio, keyless entry & go and others, while choosing the Highlander will get you 19-inch wheels, 7-inch Supervision cluster, head-up display, surround view monitor, heated and ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, LED lights, panoramic glass sunroof and wireless charging pad.

Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of safety systems comes standard in all grades and includes forward collision avoidance assist, blond spot collision avoidance assist, rear cross traffic collision avoidance assist, driver attention warning, lane keeping assist, high beam assist and smart cruise control with stop and go. Users can also access certain functions of the car using their smartphones via the Auto Link and Auto Link Premium, with the latter allowing remote engine start and door lock and unlock.
