GMC is getting ready to unveil the all-new Yukon on January 14 but we can already show you the interior design of the big truck-based SUV.

CarScoops reader Wyatt spotted a 2021 GMC Yukon Denali prototype in Troy, Michigan and managed to get a look at the interior – as far as we’re aware of, that’s the first time someone got a look inside the new full-size SUV.

As you can see, things are rather different inside the 2021 Yukon compared to the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban duo of twins. More specifically, the positioning of the 10-inch central infotainment screen is lower, with GMC going for a more traditional integration on the center console compared to Chevrolet’s ‘floating-style’ screen.

This decision obviously impacts on the other dashboard components as well, with the center vents placed above the main display, whereas the 2021 Tahoe and Suburban have them under the infotainment screen.

The automatic transmission buttons are identical with those of the Yukon’s Chevrolet counterparts, both in terms of design and positioning. The same goes for the climate control area situated at the base of the center stack. Unfortunately, we can’t see the instrument panel in these photos but we don’t expect big changes from the 2021 Chevrolet Tahoe/Suburban.

Based on the new T1 truck platform shared with the Silverado and Sierra full-size pickups, the 2021 GMC Yukon will offer an even roomier interior as well as the latest tech and automated driving assistance systems.

Highlights will include a standard multi-link independent rear suspension, optional 277 HP Duramax 3.0-liter inline-six turbodiesel and available Air Ride Adaptive Suspension, among other things. As for the range-topping Denali model seen here, it will come with the 420 HP 6.2-liter V8 as standard.
