Adding an SUV to their fleet helped Rolls-Royce boost their annual sales by 25 percent, achieving an all-time record in their 116-year history.

In 2019, the automaker delivered a total of 5,152 vehicles, 1,045 more than the year before. The Cullinan contributed to the major sales growth and strong demand for the Phantom, Ghost, Wraith and Dawn helped numbers reach unseen levels.

“We are pleased and proud to have delivered growth of 25% in 2019”, said CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos.

“Worldwide demand last year for our Cullinan SUV has driven this success and is expected to stabilize in 2020,”, Otvos remarked. “It is a ringing testament to the quality and integrity of our products, the faith and passion of our customers and, above all, the skill, dedication and determination of our exceptional team at the Home of Rolls-Royce at Goodwood and around the world and our dedicated global dealer network.”

The 5,152 cars were sold through the automaker’s global network of 135 dealerships located in more than 50 countries. North America remained their biggest market in 2019, accounting for around a third of the overall sales, followed by China and Europe. Individual countries that posted record sales included Russia, Qatar, Singapore, Japan, Korea and Australia.

On a related note, Rolls-Royce pulled the plug on the Ghost in 2019 after 11 years of production. The luxury sedan will be replaced by an entirely new model, which will be unveiled this summer. It has been in development for the past five years and, according to its maker, “will elevate the Ghost name” when it goes on sale in the fourth quarter of 2020.
