The Lamborghini Aventador SVJ is a truly brutal performance machine and Throttle House recently had the opportunity to drive a bright purple example.
Lamborghini introduced its flagship Aventador back in 2018 and boy, did it make an impact. For starters, it set a new production car lap record around the Nurburgring with a blistering time of 6:44.97. It also happens to look almost as insane as the ultra-limited Lamborghini Veneno.
The Aventador SVJ is outfitted with bespoke bodywork that doesn’t just look good but also improves the aerodynamics. Lamborghini’s active aerodynamics (ALA) system also carries through from the Huracan Performante to reduce drag during high-speed runs while improving downforce through the corners. It makes for one heck of a performance machine.

Then we come to the powertrain, which is indeed, something very special. Powering the Aventador SVJ is a 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 engine that is good for 759 hp and 531 lb-ft (720 Nm) of torque, all of which is sent to the marque’s ISR seven-speed transmission and funneled through each of the four wheels. Lamborghini says the supercar can do 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds, 0-124 mph (200 km/h) in 8.6 seconds, and a 216 mph (350 km/h) top speed.
It’s not just figures and stats that make the SVJ special but it’s the entire theater of the thing. No car manufacturer makes cars quite as animalistic as Lamborghini and regardless of whether you’re driving at 200 mph or 20 mph, it feels special.
