Remember the Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake coachbuilding project we featured late last year?

We have an important update as the team at Van Thull Development has finished work on the exterior. The Dutch company recently posted fresh photos on social media after the first-generation Porsche Boxster Shooting Brake received a Miami Blue paintwork. So what exactly is this thing?

To be fair, it is more than just a 986 Boxster, as the builders used parts from several different Porsche models. The front comes from a 911 GT3 of the 997 generation (including the headlights), the side windows are taken from a Porsche 996, and the rear features 991-gen taillights and bumper.

The rest of the rear end is custom made by Van Thull Development, minus the glass hatch which apparently comes from a Peugeot model. Surprisingly, everything comes together neatly, which is not something one can say about most projects of this kind.

Going by the full name of Van Thull Development Boxster Shooting Brake, the car now awaits its interior to be finished – the rear compartment, more specifically. Doing that will likely be as challenging as converting the body from a roadster to a shooting brake.

We say that because the Boxster’s engine is in a mid-ship configuration so the guys will need to find a way around it. Granted, there won’t be much space left to use so they’ll need to be creative. Judging from the work they did so far, we don’t think that will be a problem, though.
