The latest-generation Audi RS6 is one of the mightiest super estates on the market and in this clip, we get to see just how ferocious it is in a straight-line as it powers down the Autobahn in Germany.

Like the previous-generation model, this new one is powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine with 592 hp and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm) of torque. While those figures are not any more impressive than the old car, the 2020 RS6 does sport a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that aids in its performance.

Audi claims its range-topping estate can rocket to 62 mph (100 km/h) in as little as 3.6 seconds and power through to an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph (250 km/h). However, customers can opt to have that speed limiter removed and during AutoTopNL’s tests of the RS6, they were able to power through to 189 mph (305 km/h).

Does anyone need an estate that can go this fast? Not really, unless you live near the Autobahn and enjoy taking your kids to school at the very last minute. Nonetheless, cars like this are adored by much of the automotive community.

What we find particularly impressive about the RS6’s performance is not necessarily how fast it will go, or who quickly it gets to its vmax, but rather how smooth and comfortable it looks at such extraordinary speeds. The suspension seems to do a fine job of soaking up the bumps in the road and the RS6 looks incredibly easy to drive and control at these speeds.
