- Mahindra unveiled the new Scorpio Lifestyler pickup.
- The ladder-frame model will launch globally in 2027.
- Indian pricing will start from under 19.79 lakh ($20,700).
While we were busy covering supercar and hypercar debuts at the Monterey Car Week, Indian automaker Mahindra quietly pulled the covers off a new global midsize pickup, though for now only in the form of detailed renderings. The Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler, to be sold as the Lifestyler in export markets, arrives by April 2027 with an Indian starting price of under 19.79 lakh ($20,700).
This is the production version of the Mahindra Global Pik Up concept from 2023. It sits in the midsize pickup class, rides on a ladder-frame architecture, and keeps combustion engines under the hood. Design work happened in Mumbai, engineering in Chennai, and production stays in India.

Visually, it’s an evolution of the concept rather than a reinvention, keeping the proportions and most of the detailing with a handful of changes. The front gets a larger grille with metal-look accents, flanked by LED headlights that borrow more than a little from the Chevy Colorado.
The profile is rather generic with a raising beltline, boxy wheel arches, and a dual-cab bodystyle. The rear end sports modern taillights with M-shaped LED graphics, more metal-style accents on the bumper and Mahindra Lifestyler lettering engraved on the tailgate.
At the launch event, the automaker showed three special editions. The Valley Edition is finished in Artemis Grey with topographical decals, the Reef Edition is painted in Aquareef with colorful graphics and a roof-mounted surfboard, while the Trail Edition wears a Sahara Beige livery, side steps and a snorkel.

The interior appeared in renderings only, built around a large portrait infotainment screen set into the center console between the climate vents, much like the Ford Ranger. Physical climate controls survive alongside it, and there’s a digital cluster behind the multi-function steering wheel. Dashboard inserts match the upholstery on the door cards and seats, with shiny aluminum-look trim scattered around the cabin.
Mahindra hasn’t released detailed specifications, promising instead that the Scorpio Lifestyler will offer “advanced technology, authentic capability and compelling value in a package developed to global standards and shaped by insights from customers across international markets.”

The production model is expected to ride on a stretched version of the ladder-frame chassis found in the Scorpio-N SUV, with upgrades to support a higher payload and an increased towing capacity. Still, Mahindra’s decision to call the model the Lifestyler suggests that these figures might fall slightly below the standards of the midsize pickup segment.
Under the hood, we expect to find the non-electrified powertrain options of the Scorpio-N, including a 2.0-liter gasoline engine producing 197 hp (149 kW / 200 PS) and a 2.2-liter diesel generating 173 hp (129 kW / 175 PS). The SUV is available with manual and automatic transmissions in RWD and 4WD flavors. Mahindra won’t be offering a hybrid option at launch and is not interested in a battery electric version.
Pricing And Availability
The Scorpio Lifestyler’s real weapon is the price. Starting under 19.79 lakh ($20,700) in India, it undercuts its rivals by a wide margin. The Isuzu D-Max asks 25.52 lakh ($26,700) in the same market, and the Toyota Hilux starts at 31.99 lakh ($33,500).

We expect to learn more about the new model as we move closer to its market launch in April 2027. Besides India which will also be the home of production, Mahindra has confirmed that the Lifestyler will be exported to Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, Middle East and Latin America.
