We’ve heard of pickup trucks masking as family haulers, but the other way around? Leave it to Geely to make the crossover pickup a reality, again!

This odd-looking truck belongs to Farizon Auto (a Geely-owned brand) and it is called the FX. Chinese media Auto Sina say it is based on the Geely Boyue Pro SUV, and will arrive in Chinese dealerships sometime later this year.

The FX and the Boyue Pro are nearly identical up to their D-pillars, when the former takes a completely different shape in an attempt to be more utilitarian – although that truck bed is kind of small.

This isn’t Geely’s first rodeo when it comes to passenger cars being converted into pickup trucks. Back in the early 2000s, they built a series of small trucks based on the Haoqing hatchback, but the Farizon FX is a little more mature of a product, thankfully.

The FX is 361 mm (14.2 inches) longer than the Boyue Pro, measuring 4,905 mm (193.1 inches) in length, 1,831 mm (72 inches) in width and 1,713 mm (67.4 inches) in height, with a wheelbase of 2,670 mm (105.1 inches). The size of the bed meanwhile is 1,125 mm (44.3 inches) by 1,230 mm (44.8 inches) by 460 mm (18.1 inches), which of course is far from what we’d call generous.

As for powertrains, there’s only one available unit in the Boyue Pro’s 1.8-liter turbocharged gasoline engine, rated at 184 HP. In the FX, it allows for a top speed of 150 km/h (93 mph), as per Auto163.

While the Farizon FX is not exactly a “looker”, we wouldn’t be surprised if some people found it useful for carrying out 2 in 1 types of jobs.
