Due to its youthful looks, emphasized by the S Line pack, one could easily mistake this Audi A3 Sportback for the RS3, but the range-topper of the series has yet to break cover.

What we’re actually looking at here is the 35 TFSI variant, and unless one is familiar with the Ingolstadt automaker’s confusing naming scheme these days, they might be tempted to think that it packs a big engine behind that huge grille.

Nonetheless, the 35 TFSI nomenclature is the chosen designation for the 1.5-liter gasoline engine. The turbocharged unit pumps out 148 HP (150 PS / 110 kW) at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 184 lb-ft (250 Nm) of torque between 1,500 and 3,500 rpm. This engine can be paired to either a standard 6-speed manual or an optional S Tronic transmission, which start at £25,375 ($32,267) and £25,525 ($32,457) in the UK respectively, and in both instances, it translates into 8.4 seconds required for the 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) acceleration and a 139 mph (224 km/h) top speed.
