The Audi R8 V10 may be the automaker’s most potent performance car, but if you can’t (or don’t want to) stretch to an R8, you can buy a TT RS and modify it so it becomes just as fast as its much more expensive sibling.

The TT RS featured in this particular video is officially dubbed the TT RS-R and comes from Germany tuning house and racing outfit ABT. In regular form, the TT RS-R from ABT is rated at 493 hp and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque, but this example has been further modified so it now churns out 610 hp and 575 lb-ft (780 Nm).

To put that into perspective, the R8’s V10 is rated at 610 hp and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm), although this particular example has a few modifications, including a new exhaust and air suspension.

The first half of the video focuses on three standing start drag races between the duo. In the first race, it is the TT RS-R that gets off the line slightly quicker and takes the victory. For the second race, the two switch positions on the wet track and it is the R8 V10 that claims victory. In the third and final race, the TT RS-R driver got the perfect launch and easily won.

The duo then go head-to-head in a pair of rolling races. Despite the TT RS-R having the power advantage, it does suffer from some turbo lag. In contrast, the naturally aspirated V10 of the R8 provides near-instant grunt and wipes the floor with the TT.
