Rolls-Royce has published the first teaser sketch of the latest-generation Ghost ahead of an expected release early this fall.

The teaser consists of three simple design lines to preview the overall shape of the new Rolls-Royce Ghost. This teaser, as well as recent spy shots, seems to indicate that it will be slightly sleeker than the previous-generation model while still epitomizing all that’s great with the British car manufacturer.

The release of this teaser comes shortly after Rolls-Royce confirmed the existence of the 2021 Ghost in an open letter sent to customers and shared online. It also comes alongside an animation (below) previewing the new car.

In this letter, Rolls-Royce boss Torsten Müller-Otvös confirmed the vehicle will be unveiled sometime between September and November and follow a design philosophy that Rolls-Royce dubs ‘Post Opulence.’

According to the British car manufacturer, its customers are looking for more minimalism in design. Rolls-Royce says it too has noticed a trend towards minimalism among many luxury consumers. Spy shots of the 2021 Ghost have indicated its exterior won’t be drastically different than the outgoing model but the front end will sit slightly lower, as will the rear.

“Ghost is the purest expression of Rolls-Royce yet, it distills the pillars of our brand into a beautiful, minimalist, yet highly complex product that is perfectly in harmony with our Ghost clients’ needs and, I believe, perfectly in tune with the times in which we are all living,” Müller-Otvös said in the letter.

Underpinning the new Ghost will be the same aluminum underpinnings as the Phantom. The luxury sedan will be sold with a 6.75-liter twin-turbo V12 producing 563 hp and 663 lb-ft (900 Nm) of torque.
