Karma has announced their first fully electric vehicle will be introduced next year.

The company is keeping details under wraps, but the automaker revealed plans for a new “GS Series” of vehicles which will include “updated electrification options, technological advancements and Karma’s first-ever battery electric luxury sedan.”

The upcoming GS variants will “retain the same exotic design of the Revero,” but feature a number of improvements as well as a “price point that will help bring new customers into the brand.”

Speaking of the latter, CEO Dr. Lance Zhou said cost reductions, a streamlined supply chain and standardized production methods have enabled the company to offer a “more attainable pricing structure for the GS lineup.” There’s no word on pricing at this point, but the Karma GT costs $144,800 thanks to a $9,800 increase in June.

Karma is accepting reservations for the new GS Series in exchange for a fully-refundable deposit of $100. The company’s reservation site reveals a little bit more about the car as they call it the “GSe-6 series,” and say it will have multiple “electrification powertrain options” which use up to a 100 kWh battery pack. The GSe-6 series will also have multiple performance modes, a three-mode regenerative braking system and a DC fast charging capability.

While Karma is staying tight-lipped, the automaker originally announced plans for an electric GTE variant in April.  At the time, they said the model would be launched in the spring of 2021 and initially be available in two different configurations.  The entry-level model was slated to have a 75 kWh battery pack and a range of approximately 200 miles (322 km), while the higher-end variant would use a 100 kWh battery and have a range of roughly 300 miles (483 km).

The company also promised a 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) time of less than 3.9 seconds and said a “hyper-range version” would arrive in late 2021 with a range of approximately 400 miles (644 km).

Considering the company has apparently decided to rename the GTE the GSe-6, it remains unclear if any of their other plans have also changed.
