It’s not unusual to see some rather ‘odd’ cars out of the Chinese domestic market and the Farizon FX, first showcased in June, might be one of the most unusual.

Farizon is the commercial vehicle division of Geely and the FX is actually based around the Geely Boyue Pro SUV. The SUV underpinnings are immediately evident when you look at the thing.

Car News China reports that up until the D-pillar, the Farizon FX and the Boyue Pro SUV are virtually identical in shape. Things then cross into the world of truly bizarre car design with a pickup bed at the rear, a large tailgate, and vertical taillights. Farizon has also made sure the front fascia of the FX looks a little bit different than the SUV it is based on.

The bed of the pickup is extremely small and includes a wooden floor. There also appears to be a retractable cover to protect it from the elements.

The interior of the FX looks to be identical to that of the Geely Boyue Pro SUV. Consequently, there is a digital instrument cluster, a large central infotainment screen, slim air vents, a large gear selector, and a flat-bottom steering wheel. As far as pickup truck interiors go, this one is quite refined and luxurious.

Driving the Farizon FX is a 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 184 hp. Surprise, surprise, this engine is also borrowed from the Boyue Pro and is said to send the FX to a top speed of 93 mph (150 km/h).

Local prices for the FX start at 126,900 Chinese Yuan ($18,747) and increase to 136,900 Yuan ($20,244).
