How we built our 2021 Bronco: 2-door body in Base trim with optional Sasquatch Package and a couple of other options for $36,910

“The color and material offerings of the all-new Bronco and Bronco Sport are genuine and trusted, and establish a visceral connection between nature and the authenticity of this new family of rugged SUVs,” said Missy Coolsaet, Bronco color and materials designer. “They motivate our customers to return to the wilderness and challenge themselves – and Bronco takes them there in a carefree, spontaneous way.”

Officially launching at midnight Friday, the 2021 Bronco build-and-price configurator enables reservation holders and fans to visualize the nature- and heritage-inspired colors and adventure-enabling options across the seven available trim series. Before we let you delve into the configurator to build your ideal 2021 Bronco, we’ve decided to configure the most affordable and capable Bronco possible.

For this, we started with the Base trim level in two-door configuration which costs $29,995 (including destination). We went for the Velocity Blue exterior color, then added the obligatory Sasquatch Package. A $4,995 option, it adds 17-inch beadlock capable alloys shod with 315/70 R17 BSW Mud-Terrain tires, 4.7 final drive ratio with electronic-locking front and rear axle, as well as high-clearance suspension and fender flares.

The Base trim only gets you the Black Onyx cloth interior but we find it good enough for a basic off-roader

For now, the configurator does not let you select the Sasquatch Package with the standard seven-speed manual, so our Bronco also got upgraded to the 10-speed automatic transmission and the Advanced 4×4 with Automatic On-Demand Engagement. We kept the standard 270 HP 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder for two reasons: it’s cheaper and lighter, which should compensate for the V6’s slightly higher power and torque levels.

The only other boxes we ticked are the steel front bumper and brush guard, bringing the total to a very reasonable $36,910. Obviously, there are loads of accessories to improve the 2021 Bronco’s capability and practicality, but you can always retrofit them when the money becomes available.
