Last year, Tesla made waves when they released a video showing a tug of war between the company’s Cybertruck and the Ford F-150.

Lordstown Motors is now borrowing from that playbook as they’ve posted a video pitting the Endurance against a 2019 F-150 Lariat EcoBoost in 4WD-Low.

Dubbed a “traction test,” the tug of war was conducted on wet grass and with traction control systems turned off. As you can see in the clip, the Endurance easily wins as it slowly pulls the struggling F-150. While plenty of people will probably have something to say about the test, it appears the Endurance might have gotten a slight head start.

Regardless, Lordstown says the stunt was designed to highlight the Endurance’s “superior traction” which is a result of the truck’s in-wheel hub motors. The company went on to say the Endurance has the “power and functionality to match the top trucks in its class, with improved performance, efficiency and safety.”

As we have previously reported, the Endurance will cost $52,500 – before incentives – and feature four in-wheel motors that produce a combined output of 600 hp (447 kW / 608 PS). They should enable the truck to accelerate from 0-60 mph (0-96 km/h) in 5.5 seconds and travel more than 250 miles (402 km) on a single charge.

The truck is slated to go into production next year and be positioned as a work truck rather than a consumer vehicle. That being said, Ford is working on an electric F-150 and it will go into production by mid-2022.

The F-150 EV will have two electric motors which “deliver more horsepower and torque than any F-150 available today.” That means we can expect the model to be more powerful than the current F-150 Raptor which has a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that develops 450 hp (336 kW / 456 PS) and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) of torque.
