Two of the car industry’s most revered designers have revealed their plans to launch a modern version of the C2 Chevrolet Corvette with an all-electric powertrain.

The vehicle comes courtesy of Peter Brock and Ian Callum. For those that don’t know, Brock was the one who drew the original sketch that was picked by GM’s vice president of design Bill Mitchell to become the design of the C2 Corvette Sting Ray. Brock later went on to design the Shelby Daytona Coupe.

The modern-day C2 Corvette is being referred to as ‘Ava’ and a sketch of the car confirms that it will share a striking resemblance to the original C2. As such, it features an elongated hood, pronounced rear haunches, and a split rear-window. We don’t yet know what the interior of the car will look like but expect to see a combination of modern technology with classic design elements.

Then there’s the powertrain. While details are scarce at the moment, it is claimed that the Ava will be all-wheel drive and could be offered in various forms with power ranging from 1,200 hp all the way up to 2,000 hp, a remarkable figure and roughly in line with forthcoming electric hypercars including the Rimac C_Two, Pininfarina Battista, and Lotus Evija. It is reported that the engineering team behind the vehicle have experience with the likes of the Jaguar C-X75 and Aston Martin Rapide-E.

Further details about the vehicle will be announced later this month. Prices are tipped to range between $1.4 million and $2.4 million.
