Fusion Motor Company is the only company licensed to make Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 ‘Eleanor’ recreations and eager to see what these vehicles are all about, AutotopiaLA recently paid a visit to Fusion’s facility.
Fusion starts with a 1967 or 1968 Mustang donor car and proceeds to strip it down to its bare metal and sandblasts the shell. The company then installs the carbon fiber bodykit before painting it and fitting all of the electrical systems.

Anyone buying a Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor from Fusion Motor Company has a number of options they can choose from, including what powertrain they’d like.
The example featured in this video is fitted with a 427 cubic-inch (7.0-liter) Roush V8 with unique Eleanor valve covers and an oversized radiator. It produces a cool 560 hp and 540 lb-ft (732 Nm) of torque, but it can also be supercharged to deliver as much as 750 hp. Coupled to the engine of this Eleanor is a six-speed manual transmission driving the rear wheels.
As standard, all cars come outfitted with Detroit Speed suspension components to ensure the car handles much better than it would have in the late 1960s. Fusion Motor Company also builds the exhaust for the car while the brakes have been sourced from Wilwood.
Buying an officially licensed Eleanor isn’t cheap. In fact, prices start at $249,000 and can rise to $300,000 depending on what options are selected.
