The Genesis G70 is both sportier and more luxurious than the Kia Stinger but heading into the 2022 model year in the United States, it is the Kia that will be more expensive.

Recent Kia ordering guides have revealed that prices for the entry-level 2022 Stinger GT-Line will jump by $3,000 to $37,135 including a destination charge of $1,045. That means it will cost $100 more than a base, pre-facelifted 2021 Genesis G70 model ($36,000 for the base RWD model plus $1,025 destination comes out to $37,025).

So, what do you get for that extra money in the 2022 Stinger? Well, it does benefit from some nice upgrades.

Entry-level models have ditched the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine in favor of a 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder that is good for 300 hp and 311 lb-ft of torque, significant gains over the 252 hp and 260 lb-ft of the pre-facelifted Stinger and the current G70.

Other upgrades made to the Stinger for 2022 include LED headlights, tweaked taillights, a handful of different 18-inch and 19-inch wheel designs, and a new 10.25-inch infotainment screen sporting a more advanced UI.

Continuing to sit at the top of the Stinger range will be the GT2 variant with a 3.3-liter twin-turbocharged V6 rated at 368 hp and 376 lb-ft. This model tops out at $54,535, a $900 hike over the 2021 model. Cars Direct notes that a $1,295 upgrade package will also be available for the sedan, adding a distinctive rear spoiler, black badging, black wheels, dark exhaust tips, and a carbon fiber interior package.

Prices for the facelifted 2022 Genesis G70 have yet to be announced but we know that it will retain the current model’s 2.0-liter engine rather than shifting to the more powerful 2.5-liter.
