Unveiled last summer as part of GM’s local joint venture with SAIC, the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV has now gained a new version named the Macaron.

The tiny electric vehicle is available in three new colors, named Avocado Green, Lemon Yellow and White Peach Pink, that were developed in cooperation with Pantone Universe, and with an optional solid-color roof for contrast.

It also gets additional safety features, such as a standard airbag for the driver, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), low-speed pedestrian monitoring and a tire pressure monitoring system, as well as a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.

At 2,917 mm (114.8 in) long, 1,493 mm (58.8 in) wide and 1,621 mm (63.8 in) tall, with a 1,940 mm (76.4 in) long wheelbase, the Wuling Hong Guang Mini EV is 222 mm (8.7 in) longer, 170 mm (6.7 in) narrower and 66 mm (2.6 in) taller than the Smart EQ ForTwo and has a 67 mm (2.6 in) longer wheelbase. It has a 2+2 seating layout, and the second-row seats can be folded down, increasing boot space from close to zero to 741 liters (26.1 cu-ft) when loaded up to the roof.

The electric motor carries over producing 20 kW (27 PS / 27 HP) and 85 Nm (63 lb-ft) of torque. The small battery pack enables a range of up to 170 km (106 miles) and owners can monitor the charging remotely. The pint-sized Chinese EV has a top speed of 100 km/h (62 mph).

Local pricing varies between RMB 37,600 and RMB 43,600, equaling to $5,740 and $6,655 at current exchange rates.
