Maserati has released the first teasers of the Levante Hybrid, ahead of its debut on April 19th at 10:00 am CEST (4:00 am ET).

While there isn’t much to see, the model should follow in the footsteps of the Ghibli Hybrid which was introduced last year.

As a result, we can expect a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 48 volt hybrid system. The latter features a Belt Starter Generator, which acts as an alternator and recovers energy during braking and deceleration. That energy is fed into a battery and used to power an electric supercharger known as an eBooster.

Thanks to this setup, the Ghibli Hybrid has 325 hp (243 kW / 330 PS) and 332 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. This enables the sedan to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in 5.7 seconds and hit a top speed of 158 mph (255 km/h).

The hybrid powertrain was developed under a “faster than diesel, greener than gasoline” philosophy and was originally promised to deliver the “same pickup” as a diesel engine as well as the power and acceleration of a V6 petrol engine. More importantly, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are significantly reduced.

Getting back to the Levante Hybrid, the model will likely be equipped with dark blue accents and an optimized exhaust that helps it sound more Maserati-like. We can also expect hybrid-specific displays as well as some other small changes.
