Genesis will launch an electric version of the GV70 SUV and the Ioniq 6 next year.

A product timeline published by Hyundai during a recent investor presentation confirmed the timing of the two models’ launch, although it didn’t specify an exact date.

Our spy photographers have snapped the electric GV70 undergoing tests in recent months and on the back of the Electrified G80’s launch at the Shanghai Auto Show, it’s possible this zero-emissions variant of the GV70 will be known as the Electrified GV70. It will look largely the same as the ICE models but will feature a closed off front grille. The presentation did not specify what markets the electric GV70 will be available in but Car and Driver suggest it could launch in the U.S. for the 2023 model year.

Then we come to the Ioniq 6. Roughly 12 months ago, Hyundai senior vice president and head of Hyundai Global Design Center, SangYup Lee, revealed that the Ioniq 6 will be a production version of the sleek Prophecy concept. Given how similar the Ioniq 5 looks to the 45 EV concept that previewed it, we expect the Ioniq 6 to look very similar to the Prophecy. Like the Ioniq 5, the 6 will be based on the firm’s E-GMP architecture and sold in a plethora of guises.

The product timeline published by Motor1 also confirms that the all-electric Genesis GV60 will launch this year as will an i20 CUV in some markets and a Mistra EV that will be sold exclusively in China. In 2022, new models will include a facelifted Palisade, an updated Sonata, and an electric SUV for China.
