It has been three and a half years since the second-generation Tesla Roadster was first unveiled and while it is still some time away from hitting the production line, a prototype has been put on display at the Petersen Museum in Los Angeles. A stunning claim about the car’s performance has also been made as part of the display.

Those who have had the opportunity to check out the Tesla Roadster in person may have noticed a sign placed in front of the EV. This sign provide some details about the EV and towards the end, claims that when equipped with the available SpaceX performance package, the car will apparently hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in as little as 1.1 seconds.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about such a remarkable acceleration figure for the claimed flagship variant of the Roadster. In fact, Jason Fenkse from Engineering Explained made some calculations about the vehicle last year and concluded that it could potentially hit 60 mph in 1.1 seconds. Soon after, a Twitter user created a 3D animation to show just how fast a 1.1-second sprint to 60 mph is.

It remains unclear if Tesla itself wrote the sign displayed alongside the Roadster or if someone from the museum did it independently and perhaps used this 1.1 second claim as the basis for the acceleration figure. If Tesla itself had a part to play in the sign, that would indicate that it is indeed targeting a 0-60 mph time of 1.1 seconds.

Tesla has repeatedly delayed the Roadster over the years but now plans on commencing production in 2022.
