Last week’s Fuji 86 Style event saw multiple aftermarket manufacturers showing off their takes on what a modified Toyota GR 86 could be. Companies like HKS, Cusco, and even Toyota’s own Gazoo Racing all brought out their cars, but one in particular that stood out was the TOM’s Racing GR 86 Concept.

The standout feature of this build would have to be TOM’s own Barrel exhaust. In the clip below, you can hear it rev out nearly all the way up to redline, thankfully devoid of any soft limiters. The sound is best described as throaty, but for better or worse, it’s not as deep and rumbly as we’ve come to expect from this car’s Subaru-sourced boxer engine. Also worth noting is that the exhaust’s quad tips are stacked Lexus F-style, with a modified diffuser treatment helping to accommodate the extra space they take up.

On the topic of exterior modifications, the car is fitted with a full body kit that includes front, rear, and side splitters, a ducktail spoiler, and a tasteful set of over-fenders. It’s also been given a new set of wheels and brakes, and the whole car is painted in an eye-catching orange to show off its lines. The sole interior modification comes in the form of a new steering wheel with shift lights, but it’s hard not to like that.

While this car may not have the power modifications of HKS’s concept, given the tuning potential of the previous-generation 86, it’s still nice to see aftermarket companies having a go at the new one before it even goes on sale.
