The collection of classic cars owned by Rush drummer and lyricist Neil Peart will be auctioned off by Gooding & Company in Pebble Beach during the company’s two-day sales event running from August 13-14.

Peart is considered as one of the best rock drummers of all time but sadly passed away on January 7, 2020. He absolutely loved classic cars and the first icon he purchased was a 1964 Aston Martin DB5. Over the following years, he acquired a handful of other classics and created a collection he referred to as the ‘Silver Surfers.’

Apart from the DB5, the collection consists of a 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, a 1970 Lamborghini Miura P400 S, a 1965 Maserati Mistral Spider, a 1964 Jaguar E-Type Series I 3.8-Liter Coupe, a 1973 Maserati Ghibli 4.9 SS Coupe, and a 1953 Chevrolet Corvette Split-Window Coupe.

According to the pre-auction estimates, the Miura P400 S is the most valuable and is expected to sell for between $1.2 million and $1.5 million. It is in pristine condition and the silver paint is contrasted with a black leather interior. The 1964 Shelby Cobra 289, the only car in the collection that isn’t painted silver, may also fetch seven figures, with the auction house expecting it to sell for between $900,000 and $1 million.

The Aston Martin DB5 is also particularly special and should sell for between $650,000 and $725,000. It is one of just over 1,000 units built and was acquired by Peart in 2009.
