Few racers are more charmingly British than Jenson Button, so it’s only appropriate that his historic racing debut at the Goodwood Revival will come in a Jaguar E-type.

Racing against the likes of Ferrari 250 SWBs and Aston Martin DB4GTs, Button will share driving duties with Alex Buncombe in the Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy, which was previously known as the Kinrara Trophy and was first held in 2016.

The E-type prepared by RJN Motorsport won’t be the only chance for Button to get out on track, though. Both Button and Buncombe will be back in action for the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration, which is also being held as part of the Goodwood Revival.

The one-hour event sees closed cockpit cars going head to head and Button will be competing in a 1963 AC Cobra originally prepared by Shelby American.

Although he hasn’t raced historic cars before, Button does have one foot in the world, having recently announced his participation in a plan to revive the coachbuilder Radford. Together with his partners, the company is making an homage to the 1969 Lotus Type 62 racecar based on a Lotus aluminum chassis. Limited to just 62 examples, production of the Radford Type 62-2 is set to start in late 2021.

Before he was reviving Lotuses, Jenson Button earned his name competing in F1. Having raced with teams such as Williams, Honda, and McLaren, he earned his world championship racing with Brawn GP in 2009.

Button is set to make his new, old racing debut at the Goodwood Revival, which runs from September 17 to 19. The Stirling Moss Memorial Trophy race will run on Friday, September 17 at 6:20 p.m. (1:20 p.m. ET) while the Royal Automobile Club TT Celebration is set for Sunday, September 19 at 2:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. ET).
