Our photographers have sent us live photos of the new Mercedes-Benz EQE electric sedan from the Munich Motor Show floors that you can check out below.

The Mercedes EQE Sedan has been unveiled ahead of the Munich Motor Show. Looking like a EQS Sedan-lite, it’s a mid-sized four-door that will go toe-to-toe with a number electric cars, including the similarly-sized Tesla Model S and the upcoming Audi A6 e-tron.

Although it comes nearly a decade after the Tesla, the EQS Sedan will crucially come out ahead of rival offerings within the segment from Audi and BMW.

Taking a more coupe-like design than the conventional ICE E-Class, the EQE Sedan shares many visual similarities with the larger EQS Sedan. The rear features a full-width LED rear light. Up front, in place of a grille is a large black slab with the Mercedes logo and diamond star pattern, behind which multiple sensors and cameras hide.

Overall, we expect that you’d be hard-pressed to identify between an EQE Sedan or an EQS Sedan from a distance. However, at 4,934 mm (196.6 inches) the EQE Sedan is notably shorter than the EQS Sedan’s 5,265-mm (207.0-inch) overall length, although at 3.1 m / 122.9 inches, its wheelbase is much closer to that of a full-size sedan.

Although only one EQE Sedan version has been unveiled, the EQE 350, the optional AMG Line trim level adds different bumpers, and larger wheels, as well as sports bucket seats. Imitation leather features extensively, and you get several wood trim options. You also get “Energizing Comfort” too, which is Mercedes’ relaxation suite that incorporates massage seats for occupants.

The interior is dominated by the (optional) MBUX Hyperscreen that debuted on the EQS Sedan. The glass expanse combines three separate screens into one seamless unit, spanning the entire width of the dashboard. Technology further takes center stage, with biometric authentication and augmented-reality navigation.

The EQE Sedan is available with adaptive air suspension and four-wheel steering, as found on the EQS Sedan. However, neither of these are fitted as standard — standard models feature steel springs and conventional steering.

Under the metal (you won’t actually be able to open the hood), the EQE Sedan features a 90.6 kWh battery, rear-wheel drive, and an electric motor outputting 288 hp (215 kilowatts) and 391 pound-feet (530 Nm). 4Matic all-wheel drive, which adds an extra motor up front, will be optional later on.

The EQE Sedan’s range is quoted at 410 miles (660 km) on the WLTP cycle, with charge times of 10–80 percent in 31 minutes on a fast DC charger.

Production will begin mid-2022 at Mercedes’ Bremen factory for Europe and the U.S. for the 2023 model year, while Chinese market models will be produced locally.
