The Tourrider Business and the Tourrider Premium are the Mercedes-Benzs of motorcoaches, largely because, you know, they’re made by Mercedes-Benz. Designed specifically for the North American market, they are built to be the business class and first class of ground transportation.

At 45 feet 8 inches (13.92 meters) long if you include the energy-absorbing bumper, the coaches offer an enormous of interior space for passengers, even if they require a wheelchair, thanks to a lift and two spaces designed specifically for people with mobility needs.

Once inside, the Tourriders offer sumptuous seating. As standard, the Tourrider Business comes with Mercedes Benz Travel Star Eco seats. The Tourrider Premium, meanwhile, is equipped with Travel Star Xtra seats with luxline upholstery, the finest coach seating available from Mercedes, which is Europe’s biggest manufacturer of bus seats.

Companies operating the Tourriders can opt for a number of options for fabrics, colors, decors, topstitching, piping, and other seating options that are luxurious as they are easy to care for. Passengers will also be treated to two USB or 110v sockets installed centrally between each double seat.

For nighttime journeys, there are optional LED ambient lighting strips that can be installed under the luggage racks and under the window sills. If passengers prefer to gaze up at the stars, though, there’s an optional panoramic glass roof for the Tourrider Premium.

Passenger comfort is ensured no matter the weather conditions thanks to a powerful 35 kW air conditioning system.

It wouldn’t be a modern Mercedes without some advanced driver assistance systems like an optional radar-based Sideguard Assist cornering assistant with pedestrian detection. It warns the driver of moving objects (such as a pedestrian or a cyclist) or stationary objects (like a bollard). It also gets radar-guided cruise control thanks to the same system that allows for automatic emergency braking when the bus is on the move.

Powering it all is an inline six-cylinder engine. That may not sound like a particularly impressive number of cylinders, but the engine displaces 12.8 liters, allowing it provides the driver with 450 hp (457 PS/336 kW) and 1,550 lb-ft (2,300 Nm) of torque. A body designed for aerodynamics helps keep fuel economy high.
