Tesla has delayed deliveries of certain Model S and Model X vehicles until March 2023.

A look at the automaker’s online configurator reveals that those in the market for the entry-level Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive variant of the Model S with the base 19-inch wheels will need to wait until 2023 to take delivery. Interestingly, Tesla’s configurator pre-loads the Model S with the $4,500 21-inch Arachnid wheels and if customers opt for these wheels, the delivery window is moved forward to November 2022.

Electrek notes that shoppers can also push the delivery of their Model S forward to November 2022 by adding other options as Tesla is prioritizing the delivery of higher-spec models. In fact, if you want the flagship Model S Plaid, it can be delivered in December 2021.

It is the same story with the Tesla Model X Dual Motor All-Wheel Drive as deliveries of it have also been pushed back to March 2023. The flagship Model X Plaid is also some way off reaching the hands of customers with deliveries not scheduled to begin until August 2022.

While the Model S and Model X were once the only two vehicles being produced by Tesla, they now play a far less important role in the brand’s range with the Model 3 and Model Y now available. In fact, of the 237,823 vehicles that Tesla produced in the third quarter of the year, 228,882 of them were Model 3 and Model Ys, while the remaining 8,941 were for the Model S and Model X.
