Suzuki UK published a cryptic teaser on Instagram showing a headlight that supposedly belongs to a brand new model. While the description was limited to “Get ready for some exciting news” and “Watch.This.Space.”, another teaser on Suzuki’s Greek website reveals more information about the premiere that is scheduled for November 25.

The Greek teaser is titled “Cross The Line” and has the silhouette of the current generation S-Cross hinting at a possible successor. It also states that the unnamed model will be a “fully redesigned”, family-oriented SUV with a hybrid 4×4 powertrain, fitted with plenty of comfort and safety features.

Another hint on the S-Cross successor is that the current generation is not listed anymore on the Greek website. Indeed, the SX4 S-Cross (second-generation SX4) was unveiled back in 2013 and got a controversial facelift in 2017 that made things worse in terms of styling. In 2019, Suzuki updated the S-Cross again alongside the rest of its European range by adding a 48-volt mild hybrid system to the 1.4-liter Boosterjet engine.

The upcoming SUV will probably share most of its underpinnings with the successor of the Vitara, and is expected to be positioned between the B-SUV and C-SUV segments. It will likely feature Suzuki’s AllGrip Select 4-wheel Drive system and could use an updated version of the turbocharged 1.4-liter Boosterjet mild-hybrid engine. We will learn more about it on November 25, although we suspect that Suzuki will continue the teaser campaign.

The outgoing Suzuki S-Cross got its more recent update in 2019 with the addition of mild-hybrid technology. However, the aging SUV is actually a facelifted version of the SX4 S-Cross that was unveiled back in 2013.

Suzuki is known for its unconventional product strategy in Europe, offering a variety of similar-sized models focused around two segments. More specifically, it used to offer four small hatchbacks including the now-discontinued Celerio and Baleno, plus the popular Ignis and Swift. Then we have the Vitara and S-Cross SUVs, and of course, the iconic Jimny that is now only offered as a two-seater commercial vehicle for complying with emission regulations.

Thanks to the collaboration with Toyota, Suzuki’s range has grown with the addition of the Swace, which is a rebadged Corolla Sport Tourer, and the Across, a D-SUV heavily based on the RAV4. While those models are fitted with a full hybrid system from Toyota, the rest of the range is using 48V mild-hybrid technology.
