Used vehicles sold through Ford’s digital marketplace, Ford Blue Advantage, will come with a full money-back guarantee for up 14 days or 1,000 miles (1,609 km) starting in February.

The automaker calls this the best guarantee offered by any full-line automaker. It is designed to improve the customer experience and drive sales in what has become a highly competitive marketplace.

The offer applies to Ford and non-Ford vehicles sold through the Ford Blue Advantage marketplace and is offered on both “Gold Certified” and “Blue Certified” vehicles. That covers up to 90 percent of used vehicle inventory at dealerships participating in the program.

Only Ford vehicles can be Gold Certified. They must undergo a 172-point inspection, are offered with a 12-month/12,000-mile (19,312 km) comprehensive limited warranty, a seven-year/100,000-mile (160,934 km) powertrain limited warranty and must have fewer than 80,000 miles (128,747 km) on them.

Blue Certified vehicles, meanwhile, must be less than 10 years old and must have traveled fewer than 120,000 miles (193,121 km). They pass a 139-point inspection and come with a 90-day/4,000-mile (6,437 km) comprehensive limited warranty but don’t have to be made by Ford.

Customers shopping Ford Blue Advantage can also do an at-home test drive, watch a video walkaround, receive home delivery, and search by vehicle. Internal data shows that since the digital marketplace went live, traffic has improved more than 500 percent over Ford’s previous used vehicle site and sales have risen 26 percent in 2021, though external factors may have contributed to that.

“The Ford Blue Advantage platform provides the opportunity to build long-term relationships with our customers by offering the peace of mind of a certified used vehicle, a comprehensive warranty, and the power of FordPass Rewards points – Ford’s industry-leading loyalty program,” says Andrew Frick, Ford vice president of sales, U.S. and Canada.
