The Ford Maverick Hybrid has started to reach the hands of customers and it has been revealed it can travel more than 600 miles (965 km) on a single tank.

Powering the Maverick Hybrid is a 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated gasoline engine with an electric motor and a CVT. It is good for 191 hp and is sold exclusively in front-wheel drive. It may seem unpowered compared to the big F-Series pickups that Ford is best known for but one thing the Maverick Hybrid has going for it is fuel efficiency.

A number of owners have taken to the Maverick Truck Club forum to show just how efficient it is. One owner posted an image of the digital instrument cluster, revealing that they had traveled 595.2 miles on a single tank and still had an estimated 24 miles left before hitting empty. The truck returned 44.1 mpg. Another owner posted a photo of a 575 mile trip with an estimate 19 miles remaining until empty and 42.8 mpg.

Admittedly, it isn’t known exactly what type of roads and driving these owners were doing to achieve these figures but they are impressive and comfortably beat MPG figures for the truck released by the EPA. Officially, the Maverick Hybrid is rated at 42 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined. Ford’s claim at the time of the truck’s launch was that it would do over 500 miles to a tank.

Making the Ford Maverick Hybrid all the more appealing is the fact that it is available from just $21,490. It’s, therefore, little surprise that demand for the truck has been so strong that order books for the 2022 model year were closed just a few months after the Maverick’s unveiling.
