The 2023 Polestar 2 was introduced in Europe last week and now the company has announced updates for the US-spec model.

While there are an assortment of changes to mention, the biggest is a $2,500 price hike for the entry-level Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor. It now starts at $48,400 before a $7,500 federal tax credit and a $1,400 destination charge.

The all-wheel drive variant begins at $51,900 but this version is notable for gaining approximately 11 miles (12 km) of range thanks to a software update. As a result, the EV now has an estimated range of 260 miles (418 km).

The dual-motor variant also benefits from a performance software upgrade, which increases the output by 68 hp (51 kW / 69 PS) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) of torque. The software upgrade will be available to purchase as a standalone option for both existing and future dual-motor variants, with and without the Performance Pack, although pricing and timing won’t be announced until later this year.

Speaking of improved performance, updated software for the mechanical heat pump allows it to operate between temperatures of 20° F (-7° C) and 77° F (25° C). Polestar noted “within that temperature range, the heat pump helps increase real-world driving range by approximately 10% beyond that of the standard model.” Thankfully you won’t have to buy a new Polestar 2 to benefit as a future over-the-air update will bring the software changes to existing models equipped with a heat pump.

On the styling front, there are updated 19- and 20-inch wheels. Customers can also opt for two new exterior colors including Jupiter metallic and Space metallic black, which was previously offered on the Polestar 1. Furthermore, the existing Magnesium color is now a no-cost option.

Inside, there’s a new ventilated Nappa leather option known as Zinc. The grey leather comes from Bridge of Weir and is paired with new Light Ash wood trim.

Additional changes are limited, but models equipped with a panoramic glass roof now have a removable mesh sunshade. Furthermore, vehicles outfitted with the Plus Pack now include an air quality sensor and an advanced cabin air filter.

Polestar is currently accepting $500 refundable deposits and deliveries are slated to begin this fall.
