The 1968 Dodge Charger is already an icon all by itself but when you combine it with the mind of Stellantis head designer Ralph Gilles and the folks over at SpeedKore you end up with some that are greater than the sum of its parts. With 1,000-horsepower and a complete carbon fiber body, this monster is simply known as Hellucination.

Somehow the 1000-hp (745 kW) Hellephant V8 and the eight-speed ZF automatic transmission aren’t the only stars of this show. That power is developed, in part, thanks to the use of a 3.0-liter supercharger that provides 15 pounds of boost and ends up at the rear wheels only, but the whole drivetrain is also wrapped in a stunning package.

The exterior of this 1968 Charger is almost completely clad in carbon fiber and finished with a clear coat that shows off the weave. The hood is a totally custom unit that SpeedKore created. They also built a carbon fiber floor pan and wheel tubs for this Charger so the ultra-lightweight material is just about everywhere you look throughout the build.

Bespoke HRE wheels with the Hellucination name are found at each corner with 19-inch wheels at the front and 20s at the rear. Gigantic 345-section-width Michelin Pilot Sport 4S rear tires help to put the power down.

When it comes to braking, large six-piston Brembo brake calipers do the brunt of the work while custom LED Charger tail lights are used to alert those fortunate enough to be behind the car to its slowing. Those back there will get to enjoy the stunning sound of this engine coming through a SpeedKore exhaust system.

Gilles gave direction throughout the build and that includes the interior as well where you’ll find a mix of old-school style with new-style switches. Classic analog gauges sit in front of the steering wheel and a large Hellephant badge sits in the middle of the rev counter.

We see all sorts of different riffs off of different muscle cars but this is a different beast. Ralph Gilles is the same guy responsible for the design of the Dodge Magnum, the Chrysler 300C, and the updated Dodge Viper. That makes this car a special breed of muscle.
