The patent office has struck again and this time they’ve revealed Cadillac’s entry-level crossover.

Set to be called the GT4 in China, the model will slot beneath the XT4 and compete with the BMW X2 as well as the Mercedes GLA.

As you can see in these photos posted by a Weibo user, the model follows in the footsteps of the CT4 and CT5 as it features a familiar grille that is flanked by slender headlights. Further below, there are angular intakes and what we assume are L-shaped daytime running lights.

Elsewhere, there’s a bulging hood and plastic body cladding. We can also see streamlined bodywork and a dynamic greenhouse that flows into a chrome GT4 badge on the rear pillar. While the latter accent recalls the one used on the Toyota Corolla Cross, the rear end is unmistakably Cadillac as we can see the brand’s trademark taillights. They’re joined by a rear spoiler and a flowing chrome bar.

There will be at least two different versions of the GT4, and they echo the Luxury and Sport trims found stateside. The latter is the most interesting as it features a black mesh grille, a four-tailpipe exhaust system, and different wheels.

CarNewsChina reports the model will be unveiled in the third quarter and be produced by SAIC-GM. They go on to say the crossover will ride on the E2XX platform, which also underpins the XT4.

We’ll likely learn more in the coming months, but the GT4 will reportedly be offered with two different powertrains.  The first will have a turbocharged 1.5-liter engine and front-wheel drive, while the other will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and all-wheel drive.
