2023 BMW X6 M Snapped On The Nurburgring With Updated Front Fascia

BMW has been spied testing the facelifted X6 M at the Nurburgring for the very first time.

These photos show a bright blue prototype being tested by BMW’s engineers and much like the tester that we spied back in June, the super SUV has surprisingly little camouflage to hide its updated design. In fact, there is only black and white camouflage across the front fascia, meaning the rest of the X6 M is completely exposed.

A number of new design elements are visible through the camouflage. The lower section of the bumper looks to have undergone the most significant of alterations and includes reshaped triangular air intakes. There are also new vertical and horizontal supports that add to the BMW’s aggressive looks.

The next most obvious change are the installation of new headlights. You’ll notice that these lights are slightly slimmer than those of the outgoing BMW X6 but retain a similar overall shape. And for the controversial kidney grille? Well, unlike some other newly-released BMW models, the grille does not appear to have increased in size over the current model, although some changes to the mesh design are possible.

The rear end of this prototype is identical to the current X6 M. However, it is possible that BMW will update the LED taillights when it is actually time to release the car. If that is the case, only minor alterations are expected.

Continuing to power the BMW X6 M will be a 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8. This engine is good for 591 hp in the standard model and 617 hp in X6 M Competition guise. It is possible the facelifted model will have a few extra ponies.

A number of changes will be made in the SUV’s interior. The most significant will be the fitment of the new BMW Curved Display that is being gradually adopted by many new BMW models.
