Aftermarket tuners have started to get their hands on the 2023 Nissan Z and not long after AMS Performance tuned the sports car to 452 hp and 523 lb-ft, Borla Exhaust has previewed its exhaust system for the Z.
A handful of videos of the exhaust have been shared to YouTube by the exhaust manufacturer. While we haven’t been able to find details about the exhaust system, including just what materials it uses and how much it will cost, it clearly adds a very distinctive tone to the twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6.

As standard, we think the 2023 Z sounds a little bit like a baby Nissan GT-R but the exhaust note is certainly lacking some emotion and aggression, particularly compared to the pops and bangs of the Toyota Supra 3.0. The Borla exhaust adds some flair to the car’s soundtrack without being over-the-top like so many other aftermarket exhausts. Not only does it sound good at idle and when being revved but when paired to the available automatic transmission, emits a very similar sound to Volkswagen’s DSG during shifts.
We expect to see a plethora of other aftermarket tuners, wheel manufacturers, and exhaust builders to unveil upgrades for the Z in the near future, particularly with the SEMA Show just a couple of months away.
In stock form, the Z’s 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged V6 is good for 400 hp and 350 lb-ft (475 Nm) of torque but it is quite easy to safely and comfortably extract more power from this engine.
