We’re just days away from the unveiling of the 2024 Ford Mustang and we’re asking our readers what they’re hoping to find in the redesigned pony car.

That’s a pretty open-ended question but, being a Michigander, I’d love to see an all-wheel drive option. While the latest reports suggest that’s unlikely, all-wheel drive would turn the model into a muscle car that can take the brunt of a Midwest winter.

That would drastically increase the Mustang’s appeal in cold weather states as winter tires can only do so much. While the purists may howl at the idea, it would also be nice to see a defeatable all-wheel drive system such as the one found on the BMW M5. The latter enables rear-wheel drive antics, while also allowing for all-weather traction.

While the Mustang certainly isn’t lacking in power, thanks to an available supercharged 5.2-liter V8 that produces 760 hp (567 kW / 771 PS) and 625 lb-ft (846 Nm) of torque in the GT500, it’d be nice to see a power boost across the board. Thankfully, that’s expected to happen as rumors have suggested the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder could have around 320 hp (239 kW / 324 PS). Likewise, one version of the 5.0-liter V8 could approach the 500 hp (373 kW / 507 PS) mark.

In an era where everything is seemingly more expensive than it used to be, we’re also hoping Ford can hold the line on pricing. The 2022 Mustang starts at a reasonable $27,470 and that slots nicely between the Chevrolet Camaro and Dodge Challenger. It’s also worth noting the model undercuts the Toyota GR86, which begins at $27,900 for 2023.

While there’s little doubt the 2024 Mustang will be more expensive than its predecessor, affordability has been a Mustang strong suit and the current model offers an assortment of trims for every budget. We hope that trend continues so there’s a Mustang for everyone.
