Not satisfied with the stock Mercedes-AMG CLA 45 S, German tuning company VÄTH has unveiled a tuned variant that benefits from a series of upgrades that improve its performance and its looks.

Given that the 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder of the standard CLA 45 S AMG delivers a cool 421 hp and 369 lb-ft (500 Nm) of torque, one may think VÄTH wouldn’t dare mess with such a highly-strung engine. However, it has done just that, equipping it with new downpipes and revised software, allowing the car to pump out an extraordinary 490 hp and 457 lb-ft (620 Nm) of torque. A new exhaust system with an adjustable flap system is also present.

VÄTH says its modified CLA 45 S AMG can rocket to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds.

The tuner has also worked to upgrade the braking performance of the Mercedes-AMG, fitting it with new six-piston front calipers that clamp down on enlarged 390 mm discs. Braided brake lines have also been fitted.

The modifications continue with a set of lowering springs that drop the ride height by 20 mm (0.78 inches). Next, VÄTH has fitted the car with 20-inch wheels wrapped in 265/35 winter tires.

For owners of the CLA 45 S who would rather not turn to the aftermarket for upgrades, AMG itself sells a Performance Package for the car. It can be ordered for €1,487 ($1,580) without a rear wing or €2,737 ($2,908) with a prominent fixed rear wing.
