Volkswagen took to Instagram to announce that the facelifted 2024 VW Atlas and Atlas Cross Sport will debut on February 9 at the Chicago Auto Show. The announcement included a teaser of the front end, showing that the updated Atlas models will look similar but not identical to its Chinese-spec siblings which have already been updated.

The VW Atlas was introduced in 2017 and received a facelift in 2020 in order to match the then-new Atlas Cross Sport. Still, after three years, VW thought it is time for another update.

The official teaser is shadowy but it reveals the new lighting signature of the SUV which will get a set of new headlights, a full-width LED bar, and an illuminated VW emblem. We can also see the redesigned intakes on the bumper with a gloss black finish, looking sportier than before. The second photo of the teaser shows a portion of the dashboard, with an illuminated “Cross Sport” lettering and purple ambient lighting.

The teaser of the 2024 VW Atlas suggests that the US-spec SUV will get a similar treatment, although with market-specific characteristics. For example, the LED strip sits above the grille on the Atlas, while in the Terramont it is positioned right in the middle. The bumper is also different, despite sharing some of the visual traits with the rest of the VW lineup.

Besides the exterior updates, we expect Volkswagen to revamp the interior of the 2024 Atlas family, most likely with the addition of a larger infotainment touchscreen on the redesigned dashboard, more tech features plus new color and trim combinations. We don’t have any information about the powertrains, but we will learn everything in the official presentation tomorrow.
