As the most popular vehicle in its lineup, the next-generation Q5 is a crucial model for Audi. Now, we’re finally seeing a little more of what the automaker has in store for us thanks to a new set of spy photos.

Although the Q5 is still covered in camouflage, these photos offer us new insights into the vehicle’s exterior design. Importantly, we can see more of the light signature that will doubtless be its marquee feature.

A sliver of LED headlight can just barely be seen poking through the camouflage here, showing us that the Q5 will have a brow of DRL over the main lighting elements. The light forms a thick, straight line, going from the quarter panel to the top of the grille, with a break in the middle.

Out back, the broken line is repeated, this time where the hatch meets the rest of the body. Whether the Q5 will get a lightbar that stretches all the way across the rear of it remains to be seen.

What can be seen here are real, honest-to-goodness tailpipes but since this is still a pre-production model, things may change. For now, both test cars have twin tailpipes—one with a pair of small tips on the same side, and the other with a broad pipe on either end of the rear bumper.

Previous photos of the crossover showed that it will have a tech-heavy dashboard with a large touchscreen mounted high, next to a relatively small instrument cluster behind the steering wheel.

Based on the same MLB Evo platform that underpins everything from the next-gen A4 to the current A8, Audi will have the ability to squeeze a lot of tech inside the Q5. Although Audi has yet to unveil what powertrains will go under the hood, a range of gas, diesel, and plug-in hybrid options are expected.
