Automotive startups are a dime a dozen these days, so standing out can be hard. One way to do it is with design and that explains why Poland’s Izera has partnered with Pininfarina.

The two firms starting collaborating last November and the partnership will see them work together on a hatchback, station wagon, and SUV. While Pininfarina is best known for striking exterior designs – such as those found on the Fiat Dino Spider and Ferrari Testarossa – the company will also be doing interior design as well as crafting the human machine interface.

Izera chief designer Tadeusz Jelec said the goal of the collaboration is to “leverage the stylistic DNA we showcased during the public presentation of Izera prototypes in 2020, and update the brand’s unique stylistic language so that it accommodates the parameters of the platform on which our vehicles are going to be built.” Jelec went on to say that he’s confident the resulting models will be “enjoyed by European customers.”

All three vehicles will be electric and based on Geely’s SEA platform thanks to a partnership that was announced last year. Little is known about them at this point, but previous announcements have revealed the crossover will be the first model to arrive. It will then be followed by the hatchback and C-segment wagon.

State-backed ElectroMobility Poland intends to build the vehicles at an all-new factory in Jaworzno and construction is slated to begin early next year. If everything goes according to plan, the facility will employee approximately 2,400 people and the first vehicles will roll off the assembly line in late 2025.

ElectroMobility Poland aims to “bolster the Polish automotive industry” and the company’s head of technical product development, Łukasz Maliczenko, said “The opportunity to work with such an accomplished and experienced partner as Pininfarina, boasting unique competences is another milestone on the road to serial production of Izera.” He added, “As a new brand, we have to focus on our advantages in a very competitive market, and the timeless and attractive design will be one of distinguishing features of Izera.”
