The all-electric Fisker Ocean is edging closer to landing in the hands of customers in both the United States and Europe.

On the U.S. front, the automaker recently completed all FMVSS testing required for US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration self-certification and is also said to meet all NCAP standards for a 5-star rating.

Furthermore, Fisker is seeking an official Certificate of Conformity from the Environmental Protection Agency to validate the range of the Ocean Extreme. It has provided the EPA with range test data recorded during a rolling road test performed at a third-party test laboratory and anticipates it to be confirmed with 350 miles (563 km) of range. This would come after the Ocean Extreme recently received certification in Europe for having a range of 440 miles (707 km) under the WLTP testing procedures.

Fisker Close To Getting The Ocean Homologated And Commencing Deliveries In The U.S. And Europe

At the same time, Fisker expects to receive full European regulatory approval by the end of April and will commence customer deliveries soon after. It plans to increase production of European models on April 20 while those destined for the United States will have a separate ramp-up in early May.

“This strategy ensures we can maintain a steady production ramp and have a sufficient quantity of vehicles ready for initial deliveries in Europe and the US while avoiding the cost of vehicle storage until approvals arrive,” chief executive Henrik Fisker said. “Homologating simultaneously places an extra workload on our teams, but we are utilizing the benefits of an agile organization by opportunistically shifting our plans and delivering vehicles in Europe first. I appreciate the patience of our reservation holders and am excited to get vehicles in the hands of our customers.”

The Fisker Ocean has been a long time coming after first being showcased to the world in early January 2020. The first variant to hit the U.S. shores will be the Fisker Ocean One priced from $68,889 while more affordable versions will arrive later, such as the Ocean Ultra from $49,999 and the Ocean Sport starting at $37,499.
