What you see here might be one of the slickest and most comfortable ways to travel the country in style while getting decent gas mileage. It’s a Vixen 21 TD and it laughs in the face of what most would consider to be conventional RV design. Here’s what it offers and how much you’ll have to pony up to put it in your garage.

That’s no misnomer either. As a part of that unconventional design, the Vixen 21 TD is 21 feet long and only some six feet wide. To put that in perspective, it’s about the same size in those dimensions as a 2023 GMC Sierra HD. So yes, it can fit in many garages but that’s far from its only party trick.

The Vixen 21 TD was the brainchild of Bill Collins, one of the people behind the Pontiac GTO and the designer of the legendary DeLorean DMC-12. It features a sleek body aims at cutting drag and increasing fuel economy. To help out with that, it employs a BMW-sourced turbo diesel inline-six engine that was factory-rated at 115 hp (85 kW) and 1662 lb-ft (220 Nm) of torque. That doesn’t sound like much, and it’s not… but the Vixen 21 TD weighs less than 5,500 pounds (2,494 Kg) on its own.

Evidently, that’s good enough to get “30+ mpg” according to the posting over on Craigslist. The poster says that it has just 62,180 miles on the odometer and that it’s had a recent refresh. “Fully gone through, mechanically sound, lots of new parts, ready to hit the road! Pop top, bed in back, kitchen, bathroom,” it says.

They didn’t include any interior photos but we’ve covered the Vixen in the past when other examples have popped up so check out that post for an idea of what they look like. Efficiency is the name of the game throughout the design. The roof has a section that pops up to allow a person that’s 6’2 to walk around without hunching over and it features all of the usual RV fare one might expect.

Lots of folks end up rebadging the Vixen as a BMW but it’s of note that some feature GM engines too. This one is up for sale right now for $29,500.
