Are there many Ferrari Purosangue owners who will take their shiny new SUV to the racetrack? Absolutely not. And while the Puronsangue is expected to be a rare sight on a track day, at least we get this video for a small taste of what Ferrari’s crossbreed [sic] is capable of.

The Italian car manufacturer was recently filmed putting the Purosangue through its paces at the Fiorano test track. While it is unclear if this is simply a continuation of the car’s development or if Ferrari may actually be working towards setting an official lap time at the circuit. Whatever the case may be, there are a few titbits we can gather from this video.

Firstly, it’s hard not to be impressed by just how stable and planted the Purosangue looks. Despite its size and heft, it doesn’t have all that much body roll and stays quite flat while cornering. Then there’s the obvious fact that the 6.5-liter naturally-aspirated V12 makes it sound better than any other super SUV out there. We can also see how the four-wheel steering system helps to rotate the Purosangue around tight corners and that should it be pushed hard enough, the rear end can step out.

One of the key reasons why the Purosangue handles so well is found in its trick suspension system. Each corner features electronically controlled Multimatic spool-valve dampers that can be adjusted 30 times per second to ensure that the SUV remains as level as possible. Meanwhile, the 6.5-liter V12 acts as the perfect companion to this suspension system, pumping out 715 hp and 528 lb-ft (716 Nm) of torque, giving the SUV a significant power edge over the Lamborghini Urus S with its 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8.
