Electric vehicle sales are on the rise, and it’s clear that technology has a chance of maturing into a lasting, potentially all-consuming, part of the automotive industry. That’s the future, though. What about right now?

It’s a popular complaint among people who are a little bit skeptical of EVs, but not exactly opposed to them, that the technology just isn’t quite ready yet. But is that true for all vehicles?

Today, we’re asking you which electric vehicle you would choose if every gas station disappeared overnight. If you drive an internal combustion vehicle today, what EV would you go out and buy tomorrow?

Unfortunately, the question reveals that there are a good many EVs being advertised right now that aren’t actually on sale yet. That’s a frustrating reality for someone that might have wanted a Kia EV9 or a Cadillac Escalade IQ, say. Same goes for drivers who want a Chevrolet Silverado EV or a Tesla Roadster.

You may also be frustrated by the technology that’s on the horizon, but not quite here yet. Fast-charging chemistries, solid state batteries, and advanced EVs with Level 3 autonomous technology (unless you live in California and Nevada) are just out of reach today.

However, despite the tease of upcoming technology, and neat models, there are still more EVs in dealerships than ever before (in more senses than one). That means that there may be something out there that tickles your fancy.

Buyers looking for luxury may want a Mercedes EQS, those in the market for speed may choose the Rimac Nevera, while rally enthusiasts may enjoy the Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo. There’s no shortage of crossovers and SUVs, from the little Volvo C40 to the rugged Rivian R1S, and there are the perennial favorites from Tesla.

Although the reality of owning an EV is still somewhat complicated, looking through the lists of electric models on sale today is a nice reminder that there’s a wide variety of vehicles available right now.

But which one would you buy? Let us know in the comments below.
