The holiday season sees an increase in traffic across the globe. Naturally, people want to get to their destination as quickly as they can. Sometimes though, a lack of patience can result in a far longer trip than one intended. That’s the case for one weaving Honda driver who managed to leave the roadway, damage their oil pan, and possibly toast their motor in the process.

The video below shows a Honda Accord sedan traveling near Fayetteville, NC. The driver appears to make some strange judgment calls including weaving in his own lane with little to no traffic around him. That sort of behavior appears to amp up when he finally ends up boxed in by traffic. Behind semi trucks in each lane, the Honda driver pulls out onto the far right shoulder for a brief moment.

In other moments, he gets into lane two between traffic both ahead and behind despite having a clearly open left lane. Just over 1:20 into the video, he dips off of the right side of the road just enough to lose traction. The driver corrects, swings back over the lane marker, and then drives off of the road into the ditch. The driver with the dashcam capturing all of this pulls over to check on the Honda driver.

It appears that while the Honda is in the ditch, it snagged the oil pan on something because a short time later it’s pouring oil into lane two. The dashcam owner drives by as the Honda pulls over with smoke billowing out from the engine compartment. Hopefully, they managed to stop before the motor blew up completely but it’s tough to say. Let this be a reminder to all of us to be a little more patient on the road, keep it between the lines, and get home safe and sound.
