• Liberty Walk’s Formula E GEN3 racer has a redesigned bodykit
  • The special livery features the colors of the Japanese flag
  • It is a one-off build, created to promote the 2024 Tokyo E-Prix

Formula E is heading to Japan for the first-ever Tokyo E-Prix and what better way to advertise it than having a Japanese tuner tweak its single-seater. Liberty Walk, known for its iconic wide bodykits, applied its expertise on a Formula E Gen3 single-seater.

According to the tuner, the custom bodykit is inspired by the “golden era of Japanese street racing”. As a result, the concept looks even wilder than the standard Formula E Gen3 racecars, sending F1 vibes.

The front wing has been redesigned incorporating a double slitter, additional canards, and air channels. The large intakes on the profile are combined with deeper side skirts, making the single-seater look lower and wider than stock. At the back, Liberty Walk connected the fins of the Gen3 racer with a proper rear wing, retaining the signature X-shaped LED taillights of the single-seater. The rims are carried over but gain red covers on the front axle, further emphasizing the uniqueness of the build.

The tweaked aero components are combined with a custom livery featuring the colors of the Japanese flag. The design has references to the futuristic racecars starring in the “Future GPX Cyber Formula” anime series which first aired on local TV in 1991. The sponsor decals are joined by Liberty Walk branding on the aero components and the protective halo. Finally, the tuner added neon lights on the underbody, as a nod to the vivid cityscapes of Tokyo.

The modified racer won’t participate in the E-Prix, being a one-off concept created to celebrate the Japanese car culture. It will be on display at the venue, allowing Formula E fans to get some Liberty Walk magic. The inaugural 2024 Tokyo E-Prix will take place on Saturday, March 30.

Besides the photoshoot on the streets of Tokyo, FIA and Liberty Walk joined forces with famous actor and car lover Sung Kang, or Han Lue for Fast and Furious fans. Kang posed next to the wild-looking electric racecar, sharing the photos with his 5.6 million followers on Instagram.
